Methods
At Con3bute we do not believe that problem solving is possible by following a theory or method only. Therefore our attitude towards our method is anchored in the following terms:
Recognition:
Recognition is attached to (personal) development where self-esteem and social competencies are keywords. Recognition needs to be in place in the private sphere (such as the family) and in the social community (such as friends or the civil society as an active citizen). We deal with recognition as a capacity building tool with a focus on the social community understood in a wide definition that also pertains education and the labour market.
Relationships and a holistic orientation:
Con3bute’s experiences show that the holistic method is the way forward. The holistic orientation means that we base it in the relations that exists between our target group and those actors who the target group is in contact with in their everyday life. Therefore, we aim to create a holistic picture of the target group by basing it in the environment which the target group is influenced by and not only the target group itself. In our work we use different professional methods to create a picture of the target group. Keywords here are; coaching, cultural understanding in practise, intercultural communication, the individual and society dynamics.
The professional presence:
The basis of our work is to treat all people equally but not necessarily the same. To create difference and positive development it is important to feel that people listen to you and see you as the person you are and to feel selected rather than deselected. It may take practise to say what is on your mind and to describe your situation. But it may also take practise to be the one that listens with a professional presence.
Cultural understanding:
We believe that culture consists of social processes which is related to creating people. That is because the way people understand the world is created through interactions with other people and it is therefore not born with. It is important to work with an understanding of the human processes and also not to consider culture as something static. Culture is not something humans are. The culture does not own humans and therefore one cannot predict how people are or how they will react from the basis of their culture.
Intercultural communication:
As mentioned above, we believe that people understand the world from a framework which is a result of people's history and relations. Part of our work is to put into words what happens when people interacts across the framework of understanding. Through our work we want to create relations between people from the basis of interaction which can lead to creating new frameworks for understanding.
